The magician calls a member of the audience up on stage and asks him to take off his jacket.

This is held by the magician’s assistant or by the spectator himself.

At this point, he takes a sharp knife with which he will attempt to pierce the spectator’s jacket.

A sheet of newspaper is placed in front of the jacket, and then the magician visibly pierces through both the jacket and the newspaper.

When the dagger is pulled out of the jacket, the jacket remains magically intact
